For some, November is the month of indulging in October's haul of Halloween candy.

For others, it is the month of indulging in Halloween candy while churning out vast quantities of words.

NaNoWriMo,  or National Novel Writing Month for the uninitiated, is now in full swing.  The term "national" has long since become inadequate to describe the annual global frenzy of creative output as would-be novelists attempt to generate 50,000 new words to "win" at the self-imposed challenge.   It is a crazy-making and also exhilerating exercise, and occasionally even leads to publication.  The best known novel to come out of 30 days of insanity is "Water for Elephants".   I figure, if the elephants could do it, so, with a little luck, might I.
